To create this mesmerizing liquid, WhistlePig’s blending team traveled to Greece, sourcing ancient ingredients and traditional casks to craft a completely unprecedented dual-finish process.

The Dual-Cask Finish: From Fig Nectar to Tentura

This highly allocated, deeply aged single-barrel straight rye undergoes a meticulously choreographed double-maturation:

1. First Finish – Greek Fig Nectar Casks: The aged rye is first placed into casks seasoned with hand-harvested Greek fig nectar. This step infuses the whiskey with a dense, jammy sweetness, pulling out notes of dark stone fruits, caramelized sugar, and rich wood syrup.

2. Second Finish – Tentura Casks: The whiskey is then transferred to barrels that previously held Tentura, a traditional Greek spiced liqueur originating from the city of Patras. Infused with cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and citrus, these barrels impart a complex, aromatic tapestry of baking spices that balances the sweet fruitiness of the fig.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Luxuriously complex and sweet. Aromas of sticky dried figs, dark cherry, and floral honey are beautifully layered with warm cardamom, star anise, and toasted oak.

• Palate: Silk and spice. A velvety entrance of stewed plums, brown sugar, and black tea gives way to a roaring mid-palate of cracked black pepper, rich cinnamon, and clove.

• Finish: Extremely long, sweet, and warming. The drying oak tannins are perfectly balanced by a lingering, comforting warmth of spice and dark-fruit preserves.
