The Undisputed Benchmark of Bollinger Heritage
Founded in Aÿ in 1829, Champagne Bollinger has steadfastly preserved its fiercely independent, uncompromising approach to winemaking. Special Cuvée—so named after Georges Bollinger decided “Special” was a more fitting English expression than “Brut Non-Vintage” back in 1911—represents the soul of the house. It is the result of delicate blending between historic harvest years and a substantial proportion of reserve wines (some aged for over 15 years in magnums), achieving a consistency of style and a depth of character unique in the world of champagne.
Traditional Craftsmanship and Oak Cask Vinification
Unlike many modern champagne houses, Bollinger maintains centuries-old traditions: a significant portion of the base wines is fermented entirely in old oak casks, imparting subtle structure, oxygenation, and textural complexity without dominant wood flavors. Furthermore, the wine undergoes extended cellar aging—more than double the legal requirement—allowing the cuvée to develop its legendary vinosity, creamy mousse, and aromatic complexity before release.
An Exquisite, Complex Tasting Profile
Bollinger Special Cuvée delivers a powerful, structured, and deeply rewarding sensory journey:
-
Color: Golden hue, characteristic of black grape varieties, accompanied by a fine, persistent bead of tiny bubbles.
-
Nose: Intensely aromatic and complex. A gorgeous harmony of ripe orchard fruits—baked apple, pear, and peach—intermingles with rich secondary notes of toasted brioche, walnut, spices, and a subtle whisper of honey.
-
Palate: Immeasurably structured, rich, and full-bodied, yet wonderfully fresh. The velvety, creamy mousse coats the palate with flavors of stewed stone fruits, brioche, and a distinct touch of chalky minerality and citrus zest.
-
Finish: Exceptionally long, dry, and warming, leaving a lingering, satisfying echo of roasted nuts, ripe fruit, and refined elegance.
An Essential Centerpiece for Any Collection
Celebrated by connoisseurs, fine dining establishments, and even famously favored by secret agents on screen, Bollinger Special Cuvée Brut is an absolute must-have. Whether opened to elevate an ordinary weeknight, poured at a grand celebration, or paired with fine charcuterie, roasted poultry, and seafood, it delivers an unforgettable tasting experience.
