Description
What sets this Straight Malt apart is its incredibly balanced composition. The sweetness and oiliness of the corn work in perfect harmony with the dry, earthy, toasted biscuit flavors of the malted barley, while WhistlePig’s signature rye grain lends a lively, spicy backbone. Aged in 66-gallon barrels made from tight-grained Vermont white oak, the whiskey quickly absorbs a deep, natural wood sweetness. Because this is bottled entirely as an un-blended, single-barrel release, every bottle delivers a hyper-specific, unaltered expression of the farm’s unique microclimate and northern soil.
Tasting Profile
-
Appearance: Rich, deep gold with copper undertones and dense, slow-crawling legs.
-
Aroma: Warm, inviting, and highly expressive. Prominent notes of toasted cereal grains and sweet malted barley are layered with rich maple syrup, vanilla bean, fresh red apple, and a gentle kick of herbal rye spice.
-
Palate: Medium-to-full bodied, incredibly velvety, and rounded. The front of the tongue is greeted with sweet, buttery pastry, toffee, and candied citrus peel, which smoothly transitions on the mid-palate into roasted nuts, dark chocolate, and a complex wave of cinnamon and cracked black pepper.
-
Finish: Exceptionally long, warm, and highly structured. The initial toasted sugar sweetness tapers off gracefully, leaving behind a comforting, dry finish filled with lingering oak spices, leather, and a faint kiss of stone fruits.
